Biannual Meeting of EMPACT National Coordinators at Europol

Spain participates in the biannual meeting of EMPACT National Coordinators at Europol, where the Director of CITCO presented preventive‑focused operational actions.

On 31 March and 1 April, the biannual meeting of the EMPACT National Coordinators took place at the Europol headquarters in The Hague.

The meeting, chaired by Cyprus, was attended by the NECs from EU Member States and by the drivers of the operational action plans corresponding to the 13 crime priorities addressed in the current EMPACT cycle. A representation of the main European institutions and agencies involved in EMPACT also participated, including the European Commission, the General Secretariat of the Council of the EU, Europol, and other bodies, as well as participants from third countries, who joined the second‑day session.

Spain was represented by the Director of CITCO, who had the opportunity to present two operational actions led by our country, focused on the strategic objective of strengthening the integrated approach, with particular emphasis on preventive measures.

EMPACT (European Multidisciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats) is a European Union initiative aimed at combating serious and organised crime. The platform serves as a forum for operational cooperation among Member States, European agencies, and external security partners.
